We're Hiring: Private Events Manager

Early Mountain Vineyards has an immediate opening for a Private Events Manager. We are seeking a talented, creative and outgoing individual to help grow and manage our private events line of business, with a special focus on corporate sales. The corporate sales aspect of our business is relatively young so we are looking for an extremely entrepreneurial person grow this business from the ground up. Previous event coordination, corporate sales and a love of food and wine required.

The candidate should be extremely personable, well organized and a self-starter. The ideal candidate is someone who is doggedly enthusiastic, and radiates positivity while in a professional setting. Weekend availability is required to accommodate client and event needs. 

Job Expectations

The Private Events Manager would be responsible for:

  • Working with Marketing Director to help develop marketing strategy to maintain and grow awareness in the private and corporate events market

  • Develop and implement creative sales strategies to drive event revenue

  • Planning and developing events packages. Composing and administering contracts and BEOs for private events, as well as helping to executive other winery events such as weddings, special events onsite and offsite

  • Coordinating services for events, such as accommodation and transportation for participants, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs requirements, printing and event security

  • Making outbound sales calls to potential and existing customers in the Charlottesville, Richmond and Northern Virginia/DC markets (approximately 25% time spent on the road)

  • Driving and responding to inbound events inquiries

  • Taking clients through the full sales process from inquiry to post-booking, including but not limited to:

    • Meet with key clients and maintain relationships among broad community

    • Respond to client with all basic event information

    • Client qualification and appointment booking

    • Walk-through appointments

    • Negotiates contracts and books closing deals

    • Follow-up and client maintenance through full sales cycle

  • Meeting quarterly and annual sales goals and accurately tracking projections

  • Reviewing market analysis to determine customer needs, price schedules and promotional planning

  • Helping to update and maintain all event sales collateral and website language

  • Proactively identify opportunities/challenges and suggests methods to improve event operations, efficiency and service levels to customers

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Hospitality & Customer Service – The candidate must be extremely perceptive and understand how to provide top-notch hospitality and customer service.

  • Written & Oral Communication Skills – The candidate must have a mastery of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. The candidate must have strong public speaking and presentation skills and must be comfortable in front of large and small audiences.

  • Clerical & Organizational – The candidate must have knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures. The candidate must have strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Interpersonal – The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively with a variety of different teams and team members. The candidate must exhibit versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

  • Technology – The candidate must be comfortable working with various CMS platforms, the Google suite of office products (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) and demonstrate the ability to learn point of sale (POS) systems specific to the wine industry.
     

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in events sales or management

  • Flexible hours; weekends and holidays required

  • Able to lift 35 pounds and function under pressure

  • Able to deal with the public and solve problems that arise

  • Able to deal with people who are under the influence of alcohol

  • Able to manage staff and work in a team environment

 

Education Requirements
 

  • A Bachelor’s degree
