Don't miss trying our three new wine releases! ‍ 2009 Muscat Dolce From Estate vines in Madison, Virginia, this 100% Muscat was made in a port style and fortified with local brandy. Aged for 2 years in barrels, the wine was exposed to oxygen in order to obtain nutty, sherry-like notes. Natural sweetness from the Muscat grape is balanced with high acid from a good vintage. Its aged nutty character compliments powerful notes of citrus and white fruits. ‍ 2011 Petit Manseng A rare variety which thrives in Southwest France and is normally produced as a dessert wine, Petit Manseng in Virginia is gaining acclaim produced in a drier style. It is very aromatic - floral and spicy - and has extremely high acidity. As is the case with this Petit Manseng from our estate vineyard, a small amount of residual sugar is complemented by its racy, acidic finish, and creates an ideal pairing for rich, spicy foods. Our 2011 might take you to a perfumed orange blossom garden, a soft lullaby of citrus and quince singing in the distance, and a sweeping wind current blowing in almond and coconut. A short period of barrel oak aging lends an element of creaminess to this refreshing white with mouthwatering fruit and floral intensity. ‍ 2011 Handshake Red Bordeaux-varietal blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot that ties together our estate's history with our current emphasis on hospitality. Just as Lieutenant Joseph Early welcomed General George Washington on our property 200 years ago, we welcome fellow growers and wineries into our tasting room. This red wine blend is a collaborative effort between Early Mountain and a respected Virginia grower - settled upon by a "handshake." Dark berry fruits jump out of a core that suggests a touch of sweet licorice and a pinch of coriander spice. Ageing in French oak gives the wine roundness and structure, and the tannic finish is smooth enough to fully integrate lingering fruit in its momentary grip!
